1ChateauFoixThe Castle of the Comtes de Foix (33 km), with its high walls and three towers, stands on a rock. The visit of the Castle allows to discover the medieval architecture. Exhibitions show different aspects of life in the Middle Ages, in the county of Foix and Ariege. Impregnable, the Castle of Foix is still intact. Visit the Castle is rediscovering the atmosphere of medieval fortresses.
2ForgePyreneIn Montgaillard (29 km), near Foix, you will discover in the Forges de Pyrene, through visits, activities and entertainment, live workshops of old crafts of our heritage. You will see a working forge, old 450 years and visit the Museum of Iron and ancient crafts.
3GrotteNiauxNiaux Cave (43 km) is the most famous prehistoric cave in Ariege: inhabited since the Magdalenian period it includes many paintings. For conservation reasons, access is limited and it is necessary to reserve for the tour.
4GrotteLaVacheFacing the Cave Niaux, the Cave of the Cow (44 km) has a remarkable collection about the environment of the first mountaineers to the end of the Ice Age ( - 15 000 to -12 000 years). You will find their game, but also their tools, weapons, art and decoration.
5GrotteBedeilhacIn Bédeilhac Cave (40 km), the Magdalenian hunters drew bison, horses, reindeer, ibex, hands, gender and human figures. His entrance is so great that in 1972 a light aircraft landed in it and took off. Moreover, It has remarkable acoustics : many concerts are given in the cave.

10GrotteMasDAzil

With his cave, his museum and its dolmens, the Mas d'Azil (63 km) allows fans to enter the world of prehistory. At the center of the village opposite the church of St-Etienne eighteenth century, museum of prehistory nicely complements the tour of the cave.

6RennesLeChateau

In 1885, Abbé Bérenger Saunière installed without a penny in Rennes le Chateau : from 1891 he spent considerable sums in works for his church, for a domain and thereby build a tower to the glory of Mary Madeleine : Where does the money come from? Is a hidden treasure remaining ? You may find this pretty village perched atop a hill, 53 km from the cottage.
